Second Floor Renovations Are Finished!
As always, we’ve been working on some big projects here at the 1899 Inn, and we’re excited to share that our latest renovations are finished!
If you’ve stayed with us before, you may have seen the Master Suite on the second floor. These rooms were built for H.B Wardman and his wife Catherine back in 1899, and more recently they were used as the innkeepers’ quarters. But we made them available to guests after we converted the basement into an owner’s apartment about two years ago. It’s a nice set of interconnected rooms, with a large king bedroom, a smaller queen bedroom, and a small room (originally meant as Wardman’s personal den) that has a twin-size daybed.
But there was just one bathroom for all those bedrooms, and not only was it awkwardly placed, it was old: near as we can tell, it was added to the house back in the late 1970s, and it really needed some updates. So back in January we gutted the bathroom, rearranged some doors, and made a few other updates along the way. And now the work is finally finished, and we’re happy to show it off!
This biggest change is that now each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom! The Master Suite and the Mistress’s Chamber both have their own small private bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet. A large pedestal sink is located just inside each bedroom.
The suites can be booked individually, but if you have a group that prefers to stay together, you can now book both bedrooms and create a set of adjoining rooms (with a lockable interconnected door) that each has their own bathroom. It’s a wonderful set of rooms with some fantastic features, including beautiful stained glass, original broad-planked fir floors, high-speed internet, refrigerators, and bluetooth speakers.
You can book directly on our website, but don’t hesitate to call us at 605-920-0626 if you’d prefer to make a reservation by phone. We hope to see you soon!
