We're a Sign Language-Friendly Place to Stay
There are a lot of benefits to staying at a bed-and-breakfast. For starters, guests generally get more personal attention than they'd get at a hotel. Since there are just a few rooms, guests aren't competing with one another for service, and the owners themselves are usually very accessible. This is true at the 1899 Inn: innkeepers Laura and Dustin are usually on-hand at check-in and again during breakfast service, and they're happy to use their backgrounds in history, archaeology, and travel writing to help guests with their travel itineraries.
Dustin and Laura also have about six years of experience using American Sign Language in the local community. We know it sometimes can be tricky for deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers to find ASL-friendly hotels (particularly in South Dakota and the Black Hills), so we're happy to help guests who use sign language.
